One to watch: Awesome ethical Scandibrands!

I love the fact that the scandi trend makes us cool just by being Norwegians. I mean, who doesn’t love being cool? So here I’m going to present some really really supercool Scandianvian brands who gets even cooler by the fact that they have their ethics in order, in addition to their contemporary style.

The Danish jewelry designer Jane Kønig mixes old with mothern, the rebellious with the precious, to make her trend setting pieces. Here’s from the Norwegian press launch:

All her products are handmade from local materials, and she takes care to make the production sustainable and sensible.

AoE is funded by one of my great heroins, Sara Fosstvedt. After some years in the fashion business she decided to try to make the world a better place, and one of the means to do so, is by fabulous fashion. The timeless pieces of AoE (Age of Enlightenment) are made solely from natural and sustainable materials like tencel and organic cotton, in factories that carry both Fairtrade and GOTS certifications. I visited the AoE sample sale this weekend, and used waaay more money then intended. It was worth it though, as I am now the happy owner of these fabulous pieces:

…and a very late anti-valentine present for my boyfriend (this is actually Peace Cone, Sara’s other brand). Just to explain: We agreed not to buy each other valentine presents. So he gave me an anti-valentine present the 15th of February. It was so sweet. And I’ve had bad conscience ever since. Until recently (yesterday, actually) you could buy this shirt here, but I guess they’re out and waiting for new collections.

Yvonne Koné is my latest obsession in the bag and shoe division. And when you see these superhot items, you might understand why.

I walked all around town to get hold of these, and they turned out to be the prettiest, most comfortable pumps ever

And I absolutely, positively do need these sandals for summer. But the flat ones or the chunky heel ones? That is the question.

Yvonne’s quality goods are made from vegetable dyed, left over leather from bigger productions, when possible. All of her products are produced with fair labour and sustainable environmental practices. And you can buy them here.

A/Bareness is a beautiful, through and through ethical brand founded by one of my earlier colleagues, Karoline Hestnes. We used to work together in Woman Magazine before she suddenly took off to Nepal, and ended up staying there, making beautiful, ecofriendly, buddhist-inspired jewelry and knitwear together with Anne–Marthe Fossum. I already bought these

So my darling Cristobal, if you wonder what to get me for my birthday, you can buy all of the above here. It would also make you feel really good about yourself, as you would automatically give a share to a Nepali water project. What a great idea, right? ❤
